Bedroom ‘Baddies’ you need to avoid

Here’s how to banish five threats to your bedroom bliss

We all know that if we want to maintain the quality and quantity of our bedroom action, there are some things to avoid, such as excessive drinking, bickering or stress.

But worryingly,it turns out that these aren’t the only things that can play havoc with you and your partner’s sex drive. And when your sex drive is affected, it will get worse if you don’t deal with it quickly.

“If either of you has started to lose interest in sex, it’s important you talk about it early on,” advises Denise Knowles, a UK-based relationship expert. “Otherwise, one of you might start feeling you’re not liked any more, or you’re not very good in bed. Before long, it can cause arguing and lead to even bigger problems.”

Here are five “threats” to your romance and how to overcome them:

 1 Smartphones

PROBLEM: If you fall asleep waiting for him to finish checking the soccer score on his cellphone, you’re not alone. More than a quarter of women think gadgets like BlackBerries, iPhones and laptops have wrecked their love lives. “Getting into bed at the end of the day is one of the few times you and your man get to devote your attention to each other,” says Denise. “But if you have gadgets distracting you, your relationship will be damaged by a lack of opportunities for intimacy. And if you’d rather be checking Facebook, that’s probably a warning sign. Is there something you’re trying to avoid?”

SOLUTION: Make a rule: switch off your cellphones at a certain time to give yourselves some alone time. But remember, phones can be used to tease each other too – send a saucy message to get him in the mood. If this doesn’t work and you’re ready for action while he’s checking his e-mails, talk to him. See if he’s stressed and if there’s a reason for his lack of interest.
